Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor/Chief Engineer, and as an integral member of the FM&E team the 3rd Class Shift Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment in the Power Plant. Ensuring emergency generators are in constant state of readiness, contacting contractors or staff for emergency repair of elevators or other equipment, monitoring power Plant panels and Building management Systems for indication of abnormal conditions in the hospital facility, assisting in the implementation of the Hospital Disaster Plan and performing other related duties as required. Responds to emergency situations within the facility during off hours, weekends and holidays. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

Description: The Power Engineer 3rd Class is responsible for performing repairs and inspections on a variety of building equipment and mechanical systems in accordance with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) standards and practices. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the IUOE Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: A 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have very good customer service skills. Must have very good interpersonal skills. Must be detail-oriented and organized. Computer skills required. e.g. Microsoft Office (Includes Outlook, Word, Excel). Must be able to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing. Must be able to use required tools and equipment related to maintenance repair and testing. Must be able to maintain composure and make decisions in emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years in a hospital maintenance setting.
