Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary college diploma in Public Administration, Law, Information Management, Information Technology or a related field, or a minimum of five years of directly related experience in applying privacy legislation to release of information and privacy issues within a health care environment. Advanced working knowledge of Alberta’s FOIP and HIA legislation. Ability to interpret legislation and analyze diverse and complex information to develop appropriate response plans and provide guidance. Must have experience in managing breaches and conducting PIAs under the HIA; processing freedom of information requests under FOIP, including formal and detailed processes of incoming FOIP requests from initiation to closure. Experience working within the quasi-judicial process and the requirements of the OIPC.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Superior communication (both written and oral) and organizational skills. Ability to work within a team and independently, exercise sound judgement and be flexible in managing variable and unpredictable situations and workload with strong leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to achieve results by engaging individuals or groups of employees to meet organizational goals. Experience in facilitating training and/or participating in working groups and/or committees would be an asset. Demonstrated ability to handle concerns and investigations while maintaining discretion, diplomacy and tact. Proficient skills in standard Microsoft software application and MS Teams. Working understanding of ethics and commitment to Covenant Health’s ethical framework. Understanding and commitment to Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision and Values.
Preferred Qualifications:
A University of Alberta Information Access & Privacy Certificate, recognized access and privacy designation (CIPP/C), or another provincial equivalent. A combination of education of experience will be considered.
