Description: The Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) provides effective clinical leadership, functional supervision and, as needed, performs front line Registered Nursing duties. The AHN promotes and models leadership competencies by demonstrating good judgement and critical thinking skills, and developing and maintaining strong nursing practice in the designated scope of practice. The AHN fosters team effectiveness, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, communicating effectively and seeking to resolve staff issues. The AHN develops a supportive environment for multidisciplinary learning. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurse of Alberta (CRPNA) is required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications:The MCH Endoscopy program is looking to add an Assistant Head Nurse to the team to help strengthen the vision of creating a culture of GI Specialty. If you have an interest in evolving your leadership skills while maintaining point of care duties, build up a team environment, and create meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, this position may be for you. In collaboration with our physician team, and intrahospital partners we strive to create a warm and inviting experience while ensuring those we serve receive the highest standard of care. In addition to the AHN duties, the successful candidate will be expected to train and work all areas within the Endoscopy. This includes preparation, recovery & procedure rooms, ERCP, and Charge Nurse.
Preferred Qualifications:Leadership, AHN and/or Endoscopy experience an asset.
