The CICU at the Misericordia Hospital is a fast-paced, dynamic unit with a welcoming interdisciplinary team who support the critically ill cardiac patient population. Our staff utilize their critical thinking skills to provide exemplary care for our clients. We provide nursing care, education, and support to our CICU patients, and run as part of the hospital-wide Code Team. The Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) role has leadership and clinical qualities that will support patients, staff, and the interdisciplinary team. We are looking for RNs who possess a passion for leading, place a high value on teamwork, learning, and demonstrate excellence in the Charge Nurse role. Candidates should display interest in quality improvement and willingness to participate in process improvement initiatives as well as staff mentorship.

Description:

The Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) provides effective clinical leadership, functional supervision and, as needed, performs front line Registered Nursing duties. The AHN promotes and models leadership competencies by demonstrating good judgement and critical thinking skills, and developing and maintaining strong nursing practice in the designated scope of practice. The AHN fosters team effectiveness, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, communicating effectively and seeking to resolve staff issues. The AHN develops a supportive environment for multidisciplinary learning. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.
