Reporting to the Corporate Director, Quality, Patient Safety & Experience, the Patient & Resident Engagement Associate Consultant (Associate Consultant) is responsible for providing support in building organizational capacity for engaging patients/residents, residents, and families in all our work. The successful incumbent will prioritize patient and family centered care, the coordination of the patient, resident and family engagement program for Covenant Health and contribute to a just culture. Description:

The Associate Consultant supports planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient engagement initiatives as well as identifying initiatives underway in the organization that align with the patient engagement framework for the organization. The Associate Consultant works with autonomy in managing projects in accordance with established requirements and consistent with Covenant Health policies and practices. They participate in committee meetings to provide guidance in the identification of key processes to target patient engagement as well as supporting the development of necessary tools to study and improve processes and analyze cost benefit. This position will assist with education, consultative and advisory duties in planning the coordination of engagement activities including the provincial Patient and Family Centered Care week by preparing draft materials for review and approval of the Corporate Director, Quality, and Patient Safety & Experience. The Associate Consultant also works with members of the public and with Covenant Health leaders and physicians to evaluate patient, resident and family engagement strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in clinical discipline, allied health or health-related discipline such as public health, health care administration, or other relevant degree is required (equivalent education and experience may be considered). Minimum of 2 years of experience in health services delivery. Experience in working with stakeholders to improve patient and or resident engagement and outcomes. Demonstrated ability to support elements of complex major initiatives and projects. Facilitation and training/education experience. Strong clear communicator with ability to build positive collaborative relationships at all levels. Analytical, evaluation and research skills, including familiarity with healthcare quality metrics. Ability to operate related equipment and excellent proficiency in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Emerging knowledge of current state approaches to successful patient and resident engagement to improve outcomes. Experience and passion for working with stakeholders to improve patient and resident engagement and outcomes. Must demonstrate compassion, respect, collaboration, social justice, integrity and stewardship to align with Covenant Health values. Knowledge and awareness of diverse health environments/systems. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Ability to relate to diverse age, cultural and demographic backgrounds. Able to work independently and accept ambiguity.


Preferred Qualifications:

A Project Management certificate or PMP equivalent.
