If so, Covenant Health is looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our team. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with a blend of remote and onsite work in Edmonton. In this role, you will transform raw data into actionable insights that enhance strategic decision making, improve patient outcomes, and support operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong consultative abilities, clear communication skills, and a sense of ownership, fostering stakeholder engagement and championing data driven initiatives across the organization. This position requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team committed to advancing data and analytics and strengthening a data driven culture. You'll combine technical expertise with critical thinking in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, while managing multiple projects concurrently. You possess excellent communication skills to make recommendations and engage with various stakeholders to provide actionable insights through high quality and effective visual displays. This position calls for an advanced visualization professional, in Power BI or Tableau with highly refined skills and a meticulous, detail‑oriented approach to designing dashboards that convey complex information with clarity and precision. Experience with visualization tools, relational databases, data linkage, metadata, data quality, data literacy, and scripting languages is essential. Description:

The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable BI solutions to support enterprise reporting, performance measurement, and strategic decision making. You will build and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports using Power BI or Tableau, ensuring they align with organizational priorities, KPIs, and strategic frameworks. You will apply strong data quality practices, incorporating validation rules and governance standards to ensure accurate, reliable analytics. This role collaborates with cross functional teams, including operational leaders, data scientists, and advanced analytics teams, to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and embed predictive or advanced analytics into operational reporting. You will visualize trends related to patient care, resource utilization, quality indicators, performance metrics, and patient experience. Additional responsibilities include supporting metadata management, access governance, data stewardship protocols, and recommending improvements to BI architecture or automation workflows to enhance efficiency. Provides training and coaching to business users to improve adoption of BI tools and promote data literacy across the organization. Success in this position requires advanced visualization skills, deep expertise with relational databases, healthcare data sets, SQL, and familiarity with data quality frameworks. You excel at communicating complex information to diverse audiences and are committed to strengthening data literacy and BI adoption across the organization. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, Information Technology, Business Analytics or a related field. Minimum 3 years’ experience in data warehousing and business intelligence development.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Proficiency in leading business intelligence tools, including Tableau and Power BI, with the ability to design high-quality dashboards and analytical products. Strong understanding of metadata management, data governance principles, and data quality assurance processes. Advanced proficiency in developing and optimizing complex SQL and Python queries to support robust data extraction and analytical workflows. Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex data and translate insights into meaningful action. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, operational, and corporate teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and confidently present dashboards, insights, and analytical recommendations to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to data ethics, privacy, security, and confidentiality standards in alignment with organizational and legislative requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in BI tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist) is highly desirable. Proven track record working with large datasets, relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle), and ETL workflows. Cloud platform experience (Snowflake). Experience with healthcare data sources such as Connect Care EPIC (Clarity and Caboodle), as well as NACRS, DAD, and CIHI.
