Commencement of a Master’s degree in theology or related field of studies from an accredited theological college or university. Completion of an undergraduate degree in theology or related field of studies. Advanced Standing in CASC/ACSS (i.e. completion of 2 basic and 2 advanced SPE units). Membership with the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS). Equivalencies will be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Suitable knowledge and abilities required for working within a continuing care or acute care setting, as well as with primary populations: acute care, emergency, geriatrics, palliative, intensive care/critical care, surgery, psychiatry, medicine and women’s health. Demonstrated understanding and ability to work in a multifaith, multicultural and multidisciplinary setting. Commitment to personal and professional integration, as well as spiritual, psychological and emotional integration. Ability to engage in spiritual, philosophical and/or theological reflection. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Computer skills - email, outlook scheduling, electronic health programs as needed. Ability to listen and be present. Ability to be non-judgmental, maintain confidence, and affirm individual worth.
Preferred Qualifications:
CASC/ACSS Certification. Three years of experience providing spiritual care in a healthcare setting.
