Your Opportunity:

Are you looking for a place where people truly matter? At Covenant Health, we believe our team is what makes us special. This is your opportunity to join the dynamic health care team at Bonnyville Health Centre (BHC) as a chaplain. If you love nature, Bonnyville Health Centre—overlooking Jessie Lake and the 200+ bird species that make it their home—might be just the place for you. Affordable living, access to major amenities and high quality of life make Bonnyville a great place to live, work and raise a family. This facility offers both acute and continuing care, serving people across northeast Alberta with a full range of health services. The facility provides obstetrics, palliative care, surgical services, continuing care and 24-hour emergency care. The centre also offers a number of clinics and health services, including a cancer clinic, laboratory and diagnostic imaging. If you are highly relational in your work and support a strong collaborative and compassionate culture you will find purpose here. In this position, you will be providing spiritual care to patients, residents, their supporting families and Covenant Health staff. You will report to the Manager Spiritual Care Acute (Urban and Rural) in Edmonton and will work closely with the BHC Site Administrator in determining priorities on a day to day basis. The 0.60 fte role offers flexibility in the days and hours worked. Please note: Travel is required, and may include the use of a personal vehicle. A standard driver s abstract may also be required for use of corporate lease vehicles.

Description:

As a professional, integrated member of the healthcare team, the Chaplain supports patients, families, and staff who are experiencing spiritual, existential and moral distress: loss of meaning and connection related to changes in health, ability, and life circumstances. Utilizing a holistic and relational approach, the Chaplain assesses the nature and extent of the client's concerns, develops a plan of care, and provides therapeutic interventions to promote and engage the client in their healing process. Chaplains provide patient centered care, focusing on the wellness needs and goals of the client. Chaplains use interventions informed by spirituality, religion, social sciences and counselling psychotherapeutic modalities. With an awareness of cultural traditions, Chaplains honor and promote diversity and inclusion, modeling respect and sensitivity. Chaplains initiate and engage in consultations and referrals with other clinical professionals and provide spiritual leadership across Covenant Health sites. This position is non-unionized.
