Your Opportunity:

The HIRM Clerk works independently and maintains the integrity of the Health Record (paper and electronic) in collaboration with nursing staff, Physicians and Medical Affairs. The position performs a variety of clerical duties related to deficiency management, record location and retrieval, scanning and indexing paper records, quality control of scanned documents, information lifecycle management of scanned paper records and documents, processing release of information requests, assisting public with health information inquires, liaising with healthcare providers, answering telephones, and other related duties. Must be able to exercise good judgment and initiative in completing tasks and be able to work with a high degree of independence, confidentiality, accuracy and accountability. Attention to detail to maintain the integrity of health information is crucial. This position is required to meet provincial productivity standards. Please note: Classification under Review.

Description:

The Clerk III provides a wide range of clerical support, with varying duties depending on the specified program/department. The Clerk III performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized medical terminology course. Proficient English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication required. Keyboarding 40 wpm. Previous hospital/medical office.

Preferred Qualifications:

Medical Office Assistant or Unit Clerk Certificates. Experience working in a Health Records department.
