Your Opportunity:

The Clerk III provides a wide range of clerical and administrative support with duties that vary by program or department. Key responsibilities include patient registration using healthcare information systems; collecting, verifying, and updating demographic and insurance information; creating lifetime identifiers for non-Alberta residents; and supporting general clerical registration processes. The role also includes reception and switchboard duties such as greeting and assisting patients, families, and visitors; providing wayfinding support; directing incoming calls; managing messages; operating code phones and alerts; and opening and closing the office as required. Health Information Management responsibilities include preparing, scanning, filing, and maintaining patient charts; managing work queues; and processing Release of Information requests in accordance with established standards. The Clerk III maintains a professional and positive public image, ensures confidentiality of personal health information, and exercises sound judgment, initiative, and independence. All duties are performed in alignment with Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, Values, and policies and procedures. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a one-year related post-secondary certificate. Medical Terminology Certification. Typing speed of 40–45 words per minute. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a healthcare environment. Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care experience. Experience in a hospital registration area setting.
