Your Opportunity:
Working as a team member with OPC physicians, residents, nurses and support staff the Ambulatory Care Assistant participates in patient care by organizing and monitoring patient flow, preparing patients for examination and medical procedures, and communicating and documenting specific patient information. Responsible for the ordering and stocking of supplies as well as providing maintenance care to patient supplies and equipment. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

The Clerk IV provides complex clerical support. The Clerk IV performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Minimum of two years' experience including patient care, maintenance of instruments, appointment bookings and reception in a physician’s office or medical clinic setting. Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the public Ability to work cooperatively with others and work under pressure with frequent interruptions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, tactful and courteous manner, and pleasant telephone voice. Ability to organize work with initiative and sound judgement. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information. Neat, tidy appearance and pleasant manner essential.
Preferred Qualifications:Ability to function in an environment of change. Ability to be flexible and ability to prioritize. Ability to stand long periods, reach, bend, ability to lift patients both manually as well as using a pt. lift device. Skill in using fax/vital signs monitor, weight scale, thermometer, pt. mechanical lift, multi line phone, varied medical/surgical equipment requiring chemical or steam disinfection.
