Reporting to the Unit Manager, NICU, the Unit Clerk serves as the first point of contact on the unit, managing and relaying information to the health care team, families, and the public. Responsibilities include processing admissions and discharges in Connect Care, monitoring referral work queues, providing reception and clerical support, scheduling tests and treatments, arranging transportation, maintaining records, ordering supplies, coordinating equipment repairs, and assisting with training and orientation. The Clerk IV provides complex clerical support. The Clerk IV performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Unit Clerk Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution. Medical office terminology. Minimum 1 year experience as a unit clerk in pediatric/neonatal acute care or ambulatory setting. Proficiency with Connect Care. Experience with software programs: Microsoft office (Word and Excel), Meditech. Proven prioritization skills to meet the ever-changing needs of the unit or department. Proven ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in stressful situations. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and telephone communication). Proficiency in spelling, grammar and punctuation required. Must be able to withstand constant interruptions in work flow. Must be able to push, pull and lift boxes of office supplies (including paper) on a regular basis. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to work a rotating shift pattern.
Preferred Qualifications:Training and experience with Oracle.
