Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Unit Manager for the Family Medicine Center, the Clerk IV is responsible for provisions of clerical support working collaboratively with staff, physicians and residents. The clerk supports a full range of skills and duties which include: monitoring and coordinating clinic schedules by preparing patients for examination and medical procedures. Participates in the coordination of verbal and written/electronic communication for patient care. Interact daily with patients in person and on the phone. Prepares lab requisitions and arranging for diagnostic tests for patients and determining priority of incoming diagnostic and/or laboratory requisitions. Performs clerical and reception functions, screening and scheduling of patient appointments as required. Other duties include necessary clerical skills supported by computer knowledge (Med Access, VAX), processing and preparation of patient documents, maintaining inventory and ordering of office supplies and/or ordering equipment repairs, and other related duties as required in accordance with Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, Values and policy and procedures. One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade 12 or recognized equivalent required. Completion of a Medical Office Administration Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution required. Completion of a course in medical terminology required. BLS level C with AED provider required. Recent equivalent experience in a medical clinic setting may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of two years’ experience including patient care, maintenance of instruments, appointment bookings and reception in a physician’s office or medical clinic setting preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred. Excellent organizational, inter-professional and communication skills required. Able to work well under stress of a continuous workflow with frequent interruptions.
