Your Opportunity:
Under direct supervision of the Perioperative Unit Manager and indirect supervision of the Program Manager, the Clerk IV is responsible for the reception duties of the main Operating Room, facilitating patient flow and communication through the OR/RR, and processing emergency bookings. Clerk lV will also be required to create and maintain documents for any required correspondence, memos, and reports as assigned. The Misericordia Community Hospital Operating Room is a busy, fast-paced environment consisting of 10 operating room theaters. Please note: Classifications Under Review.
Description:
The Clerk IV provides complex clerical support. The Clerk IV performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a course in medical terminology and fluency in use required. Unit Clerk certificate / diploma required. Level “C” Healthcare Provider required. Two years recent related experience in an acute care health care setting required. Word processing/key boarding skills required. Typing rate of 45 w.p.m. Proficiency in spelling, grammar and punctuation. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work as a team member in a multi-disciplinary setting. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision or direction. Ability to prioritize work and adapt to constant interruptions. Ability to work in a stressful, active area and deal with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and written by providing clear direction to others.
Preferred Qualifications:Strong understanding of OR procedures an asset. Strong knowledge of human anatomy an asset. Recent within 2 years’ experience as Unit Clerk in a busy operating room setting preferred. Experience as a unit clerk in a high acuity area is an asset. Experience using Connect Care an asset.
