Join our dynamic 27-stretcher Day Surgery Unit as a Unit Clerk, where you will play an essential role in supporting the delivery of safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care. Our Surgical Day Ward (SDW) supports patients across a wide range of surgical specialties, including general surgery, urology, gynecology, plastics, orthopedics, and craniofacial procedures. In this fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will provide vital administrative and clerical support to the healthcare team. Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow and managing unit communications. You will interact closely with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members, helping to maintain an efficient and supportive care environment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a seamless surgical experience for patients while working as part of a dedicated and collaborative team. Please note: Classifications Under Review.
Description:
The Clerk IV provides complex clerical support. The Clerk IV performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:One - Two years’ experience in medical / surgical acute care setting – or equivalencies will be considered, such as a recent satisfactory completion of an acute care practicum in surgery. Certification from a recognized training program which includes a practicum component. Successful completion of medical terminology course. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, and Outlook. Minimum 35 WPM typing ability. Proven understanding of medical tests including diagnostic imagining, medical procedures and surgical operations. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, occasionally walk short distances, lift up to 5 kg (8-11 pounds). Ability to spend majority of time in front of computer. Working knowledge of eFacilities, Oracle, supply procurement, ePeople, WFM, NetCARE, Connect Care.
Preferred Qualifications:Excellent communication and organizational skills an asset. Drive to improve unit operations through quality projects an asset.
