Your Opportunity:
As Clerk V, you will be required to use complete clerical skills while scheduling/booking surgical patients. Your specific understanding of function and limitations of the surgical suites for Covenant Health are an important component of this position. This role requires proficiency in medical terminology and surgical procedures. You will schedule upcoming elective patient surgeries and produce the patient schedule of surgery for each surgical suite. You will have a complete understanding of the complexity and urgency of patient needs to maximize surgeon requests. You must have knowledge of and adhere to the regional and site booking policies and procedures. The Clerk V performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies, and procedures of Covenant Health. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

This role requires the application of specialized skills and/or inscope leadership for a small group of program staff within the department. Required Qualifications: A related post-secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade XII or recognized equivalent required. Must have a certificate from a recognized unit clerk training program, that includes practicum component. Medical terminology required. 1-2 years related experience in a hospital environment - Current or previous ambulatory care experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Current or previous acute hospital clerical or medical office experience preferred. 1-year recent surgical suite booking experience. Preference will be given to those with surgical knowledge and booking experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both spoken and written. Ability to prioritize, organize, take initiative and work independently as required. Working knowledge of Connect Care, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
