Covenant Health is recruiting for a Community Board Liaison Officer. This position is a vital link between Covenant Health’s Community Boards, Covenant Foundation, Affiliate Foundations, and its leadership team. The incumbent is accountable for fostering collaboration and ensuring that the advisory function of community boards aligns with Covenant Health’s mission and strategy. The Community Board Liaison Officer reports to the Director, Executive Services and serves as the primary corporate liaison with the Community Boards, providing governance and planning support to the Rural Site Administrators and Senior Operating Officer. Our ideal candidate has a good understanding of Covenant Health’s governance and organizational structures; a strong understanding of the healthcare system and continuum of care; and a proven track-record in providing efficient administration, project tracking and reporting, excellent communication and effective stakeholder engagement. Covenant serves 15 communities across Alberta, in partnership with 13 volunteer community boards. These boards are advocates and ambassadors for their communities and provide critical insight into local health needs, playing a key advisory role to the Covenant Board of Directors. While not governing bodies, the Covenant Community Boards act as the Covenant Board’s "eyes and ears" in the community, building relationships to foster a mutual commitment to improving health outcomes for Albertans.

The Community Liaison Board Officer is responsible for Working closely with Covenant Health’s leadership to support the development, growth, and effectiveness of 13 volunteer community boards; Establishing excellent relationships with Covenant Community Board members and supporting the Community Boards in their community engagement efforts, while living out their roles of advocacy, ambassadorship, and effectiveness; Organizing and facilitating community board meetings, community board chair council meetings, retreats, community forums, and events; Responding to varying needs from multiple stakeholders; Working with community boards to identify and address emerging issues in rural healthcare delivery, advocating on behalf of rural communities; Facilitating approval processes for community board appointments, ensuring compliance with organizational governance policies; Creating timely and engaging content that is optimized for effective communication across the organization; Developing, implementing, and monitoring short and long-term special projects; plans, goals and objectives focused on achieving the Covenant’s mission, vision and strategic plan, etc. This position would perform other duties as assigned and within the scope of the position. The ideal candidate is great at leveraging their exceptional administrative, stakeholder engagement, organizational, time management & communication skills to deliver quality work that moves the Board forward. Travel will be required and occasional weekend hours may be required. This is a non-unionized position and will be required to work in the office with a start time of 8am. Please note: Travel is required, and may include the use of a personal vehicle. A standard driver s abstract may also be required for use of corporate lease vehicles.

Bachelor’s degree in in business administration, political sciences, communications or a related field; Minimum of five to seven years of community engagement and community development experience; Equivalencies in a combination of other educational background and extensive work experience within a high level, fast paced environment may be considered. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Covenant’s Mission, Vision and Values; and a Commitment to sound professional ethics, tact and high work standards.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience in issues management, project management, change management, and stakeholder relations; High degree of independence in decision-making and creativity; Demonstrated commitment to Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, and Values; Ability to manage multiple competing priorities due to a wide range of responsibilities; Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and change management skills; Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork, collaboration, and partnership; Adaptability to new learning and changing environments; Broad knowledge of planning and operations; Proficiency with computer applications; Experience in managing medium to large scale projects; Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in handling of sensitive information; Ability to work independently with minimal direction/supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
Coursework in nonprofit management and/or board governance; Rural Health planning experience; Facilitation and strategic planning experience; Healthcare experience and systems knowledge; Familiarity with medical terminologies.
