Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized Diploma related to Police Studies, Security or Criminology or equivalent required. Valid First Aid Certificate and Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Required to be in good physical condition and provide proof of successful completion of Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) Must possess a valid operator's license and provide a clear criminal records check for which a pardon has not been granted, and have no charges pending before the courts.
Additional Required Qualifications:Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must possess strong presentation and public speaking skills. Knowledge and practical application of dealing with difficult persons in a challenging environment; strong analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills required. Strong team player with the ability to contribute to a high performing team. Must be able to work independently on confidential and complex issues. Must possess, or be able to obtain, the Provincial Community Peace Officer I designation with completion of the Community Peace Officer Induction Program - CPOIP, as well as the Municipal Bylaw Officer appointment. Must have successfully completed the Physical Abilities Readiness Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) within 4 minutes and 45 seconds (4:45) in the past six (6) months. Professional knowledge of the Community Peace Officer Area, Provincial requirements, and standards. Possession of valid Standard First Aid, CPR and AED certifications. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:Two (2) years post-secondary education in Security, Law Enforcement, or Criminal Justice preferred. Two (2) years related experience in security/law enforcement preferred. Experience in a health care setting and with by-law enforcement preferred. Certificate in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and Verbal Judo preferred. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license preferred.
