Description: The Cook I is responsible for a variety of cooking duties including preparation, assembly and serving of menu items in accordance with standardized recipes and established procedures and standards. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: A Journeyman certificate is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Journeyman's Cook Papers. Minimum 1 year recent institutional, large quantity cooking experience. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Basic knowledge of regular and texture modified special diets. Able to work independently, yet still capable of working as part of a team. Able to follow directions and guidelines. Must have excellent time management skills. Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Preferred Qualifications:Significant periods of standing and reaching. Frequently required to lift weights of 25lbs - 40lbs. Must be able to work holidays, weekends and flexible hours.
