You will be performing a variety of tasks to ensure quality customer experience. Under the general supervision of an NFLES Supervisor, you will use your customer service, teamwork, and organizational skills to work independently and within a team environment by: Preparing, handling, portioning, and serving food and beverages in a dining room setting. Description: The Cook I is responsible for a variety of cooking duties including preparation, assembly and serving of menu items in accordance with standardized recipes and established procedures and standards. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: A Journeyman certificate is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Physically capable of lifting food, supplies and equipment up to 50lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift. Basic knowledge of and experience with computer applications. All new employees must be able to attend 1 day of Food Services' new employee orientation and complete necessary training on each unit. Good command of English language, both verbal and written and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong customer service skills, including the ability to interact with everyone in a respectful manner Ability to read and follow diet reports and work in a sanitary manner Ability to demonstrate responsible judgement in problem solving Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team Strong time management and organizational skills to be able to manage workload. Preferred Qualifications:Journeyman, Red Seal Certification Prior Experience working in Health Care setting
