Your Opportunity:
St. Michael’s Health Centre (SMHC) is a dynamic multi-discipline site consisting of Long-Term Care, Designated Supportive Living, Post-Acute Rehabilitation, Long Term Mental Health, and Palliative Care totally 202 beds. Reporting to the Supervisor Hospitality Services, the Cook l is responsible for a variety of cooking duties including preparation, assembly and serving of menu items in accordance with standardized recipes, established procedures and diet guidelines. The Cook l is responsible for the provision of quality meals and service in accordance with Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The Cook l interacts compassionately and respectfully with patients, residents, co-workers, supervisors, and managers. This is a casual position. The Cook l is responsible for ensuring the overall quantity, quality and presentation of food products meet established guidelines and standards and for providing superior customer service. Work is to be completed with commitment to safety. The Cook l may also participate in baking, completing food inventory and ordering, tracking costs, training, and orientating of staff, cleaning of work area and equipment, and continuous quality improvement. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services.

A Journeyman certificate is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:Basic knowledge of regular and special diets. Strong Interpersonal skills and training in customer relations. The ability to work quickly and accurately to deadlines. High standards of cleanliness and sanitation. High level of honesty and integrity. WHMIS certificate.
