Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Nutrition Food Linen and Environmental Services Supervisor and Manager, the Cook I is responsible for performing a variety of food preparation and cooking duties, including the preparation, assembly, and service of menu items in accordance with standardized recipes, established procedures, and therapeutic diet guidelines. Cook I play a key role in ensuring the provision of high-quality meals and food services aligned with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Covenant Health. Key responsibilities include ensuring the quantity, quality, and presentation of food products meet established standards, while delivering superior customer service and maintaining a safe working environment. Additional duties may include assisting with baking, maintaining food inventory and placing orders, tracking food costs, supporting staff training and orientation, cleaning work areas and equipment, and participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives. The Cook I interacts compassionately and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, co-workers, supervisors, and managers while maintaining a strong commitment to service Excellence. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Covenant Health currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Required Qualifications: A Journeyman certificate is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge of both regular and therapeutic diets. Strong interpersonal skills with training in customer service. Ability to work efficiently and accurately under deadlines. Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Exhibits a high level of honesty and integrity. WHMIS certification required. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.
