At Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, we’re seeking Casual Cook’s Assistants to support our Nutrition and Food Services department. This role offers flexible scheduling—you can pick up shifts that fit your lifestyle and maintain the work-life balance you deserve. What’s in it for you? Flexible hours: Work around your schedule when shifts become available Monday to Friday, 6:45 AM – 3:00 PM. Impactful work: Help prepare and serve high-quality, from-scratch meals for over 40 patients and long-term care residents every day. What you’ll do: Prepare a variety of foods using standardized recipes and simple cooking techniques. Receive, store, and rotate food and supplies following best practices. What we’re looking for: Food preparation experience (hospitality or similar setting preferred). Ability to commit to at least one shift per week. Description:

Description: The Cooks Assistant will do all fruit and vegetable prep according to the prep sheets, the menu, departmental requirements and product availability. They will also portion patient/resident and staff desserts, operate and clean equipment, participate in receiving, storage of grocery and produce items, handle cash transactions, wash pots and cooking utensils in an ongoing manner, do scheduled daily and weekly cleaning and sanitizing work area and perform other related duties as required. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to lift 20 pounds (9 kg) above shoulder height, required. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds (27.2kg), required. Basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal skills and training in customer relations. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow directions and guidelines. High standards for cleanliness and sanitation. High levels of honesty and integrity. Clear Criminal Records Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous food production experience in a care facility or institutional food service setting, desired. Previous food service experience in a restaurant/cafeteria setting or customer service experience may be considered desirable in combination with other qualifications. WHMIS Certificate, desired. Food Safe Certificate, desired. Customer Service coursework, desired.
