Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or other health related science degree required. It is expected that the ICP will complete additional formal training in Infection Prevention & Control within the first year of practice. It is expected that the ICP following 2 years of practice, obtain and maintain requirements for Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC). Currently licensed with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or an application professional licensing body, required. Must be maintained throughout duration of employment. Completion of basic Infection Prevention and Control training course, or commitment to attend training once employed, required. Heart and Stroke Foundation - BLS Level C - Health Care Provider required. Total of 6-8 years’ experience within healthcare. Of those 6-8 years, a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as an Infection Control Professional required. Project management experience required. Experience leading: teams, working groups and projects. Leadership experience. Change management experience. Experience conducting research or best practice information gathering. Experience developing educational materials and policies.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong time management skills required. Receptive to change. Project management skills. Ability to communicate IPC issues to applicable stakeholders. Negotiation skills. Contract management. Self-motivated, positive, and confident with the ability to cope under stress. Expertise communicating knowledge and supporting delivery of the Infection Control Work plan. Interpersonal skills including influencing, facilitating, conflict resolution and the ability to form positive working relationships.


Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree preferred. Certification in Infection Control is preferred. Flexible hours as education needs arise.
