Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
Additional Required Qualifications:
3 - 5 years of practical experience in data science, preferably in a healthcare or medical research setting. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in advanced analytics, data mining, data visualization, and optimization. Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python and/or R. Strong IT/technical skills including statistical software packages including Tableau and Oracle. Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques, e.g. GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees. Effectiveness as a member of a multidisciplinary team, including information sharing and developing informal educational materials for the internal team. Continuous learning mindset with a commitment to staying updated with advancements in data science and healthcare analytics. Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to communicate ideas, methods, and key findings clearly and succinctly. Ability to work independently and take responsibility for your own work and time. problem-solving skills to identify and find solutions to day-to-day practical and technical problems. Experience creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of applicable regulatory considerations as it relates to but is not limited to: the utilization and access of health information from a research, operational and legislative perspective (Health Information Act, FOIPP).
Preferred Qualifications:
5 - 10 years of analytics experience within the Alberta Health Care system. Training/experience in AI or Machine Learning Competencies. Familiarity with Connect Care or a similar clinical information system. Project Management experience. Research Experience. Familiarity with Alberta Health data and/or Canadian Institute for Health Information data. Familiarity with the latest developments in eHealth technologies.
