Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition accredited by the College of Dietitian's of Alberta (CDA) is required. Active registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta required. Successful completion of an internship program or practicum training program that is accredited by the Dietitians of Canada is required Practice permit that includes Restricted Activities authorization to prescribe TPN required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum three (3) years recent experience in clinical dietetics or community nutrition, with a focus on diabetes and group teaching experience required. Must be able to assess patients' changing educational and nutritional needs as disease progresses. Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary health care team. Proficient in group teaching and individual counseling.
Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency and knowledge of insulin pumps. Innovativeness in teaching methods and development of teaching aides. Demonstrates initiative in program revision and development. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Actively updates knowledge related to conditions treated.
