Your Opportunity:

In keeping with the Covenant Health Mission and Values, the Clinical Dietitian assesses, develops and evaluates nutrition care plans. The Clinical Dietitian assesses the nutritional status and requirements of individual patients and residents at a mixed site (acute and continuing care) located in Castor, Alberta. The dietitian develops and coordinates the implementation of the nutritional care plan. Provides nutrition consultation for patients/residents with moderate and high nutritional concerns. Monitors and evaluates patient/resident clinical progress. Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates the nutrition education program for individual patients/residents. Provides nutrition expertise to health professionals, agencies and organizations in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs. Provides feedback to Food and Nutrition Services on the quality of the food and menu. Ensures the nutrition needs of the patients and residents are met with the menu and nourishment program as defined by the Food and Nutrition Services. The Clinical Dietitian also acts as a liaison for Covenant Health Nutrition and Foods Services for program specific initiatives and issues.

Description:

The Dietitian I is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating the nutrition care for all patients/residents in the facility; on admission, quarterly and whenever there is a significant change in status to support optimum nutrition care. The dietitian acts as a liaison to the Nutrition and Food Services for program specific initiatives and supports.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition accredited by the College of Dietitian's of Alberta (CDA) is required. Active registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta required. Successful completion of an internship program or practicum training program that is accredited by the Dietitians of Canada is required Practice permit that includes Restricted Activities authorization to prescribe TPN required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

PLEASE NOTE: Restricted Activity to prescribe TPN is NOT required at this site. Current experience as a dietitian. Displays excellent verbal and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with dysphagia management including bedside swallowing assessments (preferred). Experience with IT systems such as Meditech and Netcare.
