This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description: The Housekeeping Worker is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting public, patient and office areas including the collection of waste. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to perform specialized cleaning procedures in isolation areas. High standard of cleanliness and sanitation with strong attention to detail. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, fluent in English. Basic computer skills are a necessity. Ability to work as part of a team and also independently. Possess good time management skills, able to follow directions, work to deadlines, and have attention to detail. Capable of meeting the physical demands of the position; able to stand for long periods of time and ability to move and lift up to 60 lbs. Possess the fortitude to work in a hospital setting. Valid within 6 months Criminal Records Check. Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous cleaning experiences in a health care setting preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and training in customer relations. WHMIS certificate.
