Formal Education: Bachelor of Commerce Degree required. Recognized accounting designation (CPA). Experience: Minimum five years of work experience in the accounting field, including two years in a management or supervisory role required. Experience in health-care industry desired. Demonstrated experience and proficiency in applying accounting principles and coordinating accounting functions required. Strong understanding of Not-for-Profit accounting is required. Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to coordinate the activities of the Finance Department required to complete the accounting cycle (input and reporting) while ensuring the day to day processing of information continues. Knowledge of internal and external reporting requirements. Knowledge, interpretation and application of CPA Canada Handbook. Thorough working knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required. Able to analyze, interpret and provide advice to internal and external parties with highest level of professionalism and confidentiality. Knowledge of the year-end audit process. Excellent verbal/written communication. Able to distinguish independent decisions from decisions that should be referred upwards.
