Description:
The Health Care Aide is accountable for providing care and support under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse. The Health Care Aide provides service which is responsive to the holistic needs of residents and promotes choice while maintaining dignity and facilitating independence. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE St. Therese Villa Collective Agreement.

Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 6 months of experience working with individuals with dementia or in a similar long-term care setting. Basic understanding of dementia care principles and techniques. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with residents and their families. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a care team. Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and professionalism in challenging situations.
Preferred Qualifications:Additional training or certification in dementia care or related fields (e.g., Dementia Care Aide or Certified Dementia Practitioner). Certification or training in crisis management techniques, such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI). Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Connect Care. Skills in non-pharmacological interventions and behavior management techniques.
