Required Qualifications: Active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed: 1) a continuing care or medicine unit placement, and 2) either Year 1 of a practical nursing program; or Year 2 of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program, and 3) knowledge and experience with medication assistance; will be considered. Candidates who are In Progress on the Directory may be considered. Candidates will be required to provide proof of Active enrolment on the Directory. Physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English.

Must be eligible to work in Canada, have completed a minimum of grade 11 and meet the admission requirements for the Health Care Aide Program at NorQuest College (listed below). English Language Arts – this requirement can be met with any of the following, or an equivalent course: 60% in English Language Arts 20-2. 55% in English Language Arts 30-2. OR Successful completion of Accuplacer exam. If English is your second language, you must provide proof of English language proficiency before admission. These results must be no more than two years old when you start your program. Test scores that are accepted: IELTS Academic: 6; no section score below 5.5. TOEFL iBT: 71. Duolingo: 105. CLBA or CLBPA: no section score below 7. Applicants must be physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English. Please note - this is a training opportunity for you to become a certified Health Care Aide.
