Degree in humanities, social science, or clinical discipline. Clinical Pastoral Education (training provided by employer)
Additional Required Qualifications:Degree in humanities, social science, or clinical discipline. Clinical Pastoral Education (training provided by employer). Experience (Non-traditional): 3-5 years’ experience in healthcare; if part of a registered profession registration in good standing with applicable governing body. 5 years of work experience with Indigenous people; demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and understanding of the needs of patients from First Nations, Metis or Inuit settlements and community resources. Experience (Traditional): Traditional Indigenous Knowledge (cultural preparation is based in oral cultures and not measured by diplomas and degrees). Traditionally earned understanding about Indigenous cultural beliefs, values, customs, traditions, healing ways, ceremonies, traditional medicine, protocols. Guided ongoing development with Traditional Elders over the course of many years. Learning about Indigenous cultural identity that is recognized by other Indigenous people and is respectful in a health care environment. Knowledge of how to respond to diverse cultural needs of a wide variety of Indigenous people and the effects of colonization and residential schools, including intergenerational trauma. Openness to continual learning and professional development. Driver's License required. Active registration in good standing with applicable governing body if applicable. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in culturally appropriate 1:1 support. Experience in community development, working within a holistic approach to health. Demonstrated commitment to working as part of a collaborative team; understands when to access care team for clinical decision making; understands when to involve direct Supervisor. Ability to function with flexibility in a dynamic environment. Broad knowledge of federal, provincial, regional and local community resources. Current CPR.
