Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or other health related science required. Certification in Infection Control is required. Currently licensed with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or an applicable professional licensing body required. Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS Level C - Health Care Provider required. Three years of related experience in health care - either acute care or continuing care setting required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Following two (2) years of practice, obtain and maintain requirements for Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC). Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required; must be able to exercise appropriate judgement and diplomacy in all forms of communication. Must possess knowledge and skills for conflict resolution. The ability to adapt to and support change initiatives. Professional knowledge and skills combined with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage others and influence their practice and behavior. Knowledge and skills of patient care practices required.
Preferred Qualifications:A combination of experience and proficiency in two of the following areas, will be considered: Patient Care Practice, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, or Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Demonstrated knowledge of microbiology, epidemiological principles, and statistical methods is an asset. Knowledge and skills in adult education an asset. Voluntary participation in position related professional member groups (e.g., IPAC Canada).
