Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary college diploma in information management, information technology or a related field Minimum three year experience in an Information Privacy or Information Security position in a health care environment Advanced working knowledge of Alberta’s FOIP and HIA legislation Proficient skills in standard Microsoft software applications Superior communication (both written and oral) and organizational skills Ability to achieve results by engaging and influencing individuals or groups of employees to meet organizational goals Demonstrated ability to handle concerns and investigations while maintaining discretion, diplomacy and tact Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and be flexible in managing variable and unpredictable situations and workload with strong leadership, problem-solving and decision making skills Ability to interpret legislation and analyze diverse and complex information to develop appropriate response plans and provide guidance
Additional Required Qualifications:Privacy and I.T. security breaches are highly unpredictable and variable in sensitivity, risk profile, and magnitude and require thoughtful and timely attention as soon as they are discovered. The incumbent must apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to guide staff on the actions that need to be taken and to determine an appropriate overall response plan within the framework of the applicable legislation. Activities required in order to respond to a breach are not routine and, in the initial discovery period, cannot be scheduled. Access to information requests are unique in nature and preparing responses to applicants requires a thorough and detailed knowledge of the applicable legislation and the ability to interpret the legislative provisions accurately to ensure appropriate disclosure of personal or general information or health information. Work duties require continuous reassessment and prioritization to ensure compliance with legislated requirements and timeframes which can be stressful to the incumbent who must maintain composure while maintaining a high level of involvement in each work matter. Driver’s license required for travel between sites License(s)/Certification(s): University of Alberta Information Access & Privacy Certificate or other provincial equivalent. Professional Technical Designation: Active membership with the appropriate provincial licensing body
