The Misericordia ICU is a dynamic environment that delivers exceptional care to critically ill adult patients. Our ICU has a broad focus on multisystem care as well as a specialty in supporting patients with neuromuscular conditions. Patients we support come from diverse backgrounds and are cared for in accordance with the Covenant Health Mission, Vision, and Values. As an expert clinician and self-directed professional, the instructor has the opportunity to educate and promote staff development to ensure the delivery of quality patient care. This is achieved through orientation, in-service training, evaluation, and support of frontline staff. The instructor has an important role in the development and revision of department policies and procedures, collaborating on relevant committees, and maintaining their own competence through participation in patient care.

Description:

The Instructor's primary role is to ensure the delivery of quality patient care and excellence in nursing. Exercising adult principles of learning, the Instructor will design, enhance and provide staff orientation, education, clinical consultation, development, and/or evaluation. The Instructor's nursing practice will reflect a current, broad knowledge base, and excellent nursing skills that enable her/him to function as a role model and support staff in accordance with Covenant Health's Mission, Vision, and Values. The Instructor will function independently in formal and informal learning environments. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.
