Your Opportunity:
In keeping with the Covenant Health Group’s Mission and Values and as an integral member of the Environmental Services team, the Laundry Worker II gathers and prepares soiled linen and resident garments for washing, and loads washers and dryers following Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards and then delivers the clean items to the various residential rooms. This position keeps records of laundry usage, communicating quota changes and extra stock requirements to the hospitality supervisors/manager. The Laundry Worker II is responsible for performing other related duties as required. The Laundry Worker II participates in departmental meetings and programs, participates in the training/orientation of new staff and students and performs other duties as required. These tasks are to be completed with minimal supervision.
Description:
The Laundry Worker II gathers, sorts, processes, repairs, presses, stacks and/or stores linens and garments. The work includes the transportation of clean and soiled linen and the use of washing and drying equipment. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 408 St. Michael's Collective Agreement.

Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, required. Basic computer skills, required. Frequently required to lift weights up to 50 pounds (22.7 kg). Pushing of up to 50 pounds (22.7 kg); required. Must possess strong interpersonal/communication skills. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow directions and guidelines. High standards for cleanliness and sanitation. Demonstrates high levels of honesty and integrity. Significant periods of standing, lifting, pulling, and pushing carts throughout the facility. Ability to climb stairs. Exposure to soiled linens which contain bodily fluids. Must be able to work in a busy and fast paced environment. Performs repetitive and routine tasks. Exposure to temperature changes in the work area. Exposure to noise.Must be able to work stat holidays when necessary
Preferred Qualifications:Completion of grade 12 preferred.
