Your Opportunity:

Reporting to Legal Counsel and Manager of Labour Relations, this position is responsible for leading negotiations at a number of collective bargaining tables, coordinating bargaining with other internal negotiators and providing support, advice and guidance to HR and operational managers and professionals in the areas of labour relations and dispute resolution. Please note: Travel is required, and may include the use of a personal vehicle. A standard driver’s abstract may also be required for use of corporate lease vehicles.


The Lead is responsible for providing expert level interpretation to Human Resources Associates and management of all collective agreements, policies, procedures and terms and conditions of employment as well as pertinent legislation (e.g., Human Rights, Employment Standards, Professional Colleges, Protection for Persons in Care, FOIP, Health Professions Act, etc.). Participates in the negotiating of collective bargaining agreements on behalf of the organization. Works with other sections in Human Resources to pro-actively resolve complex labour relations issues. Provides advice and guidance to HR colleagues involved in highly sensitive workplace investigations. Keeps abreast of mediations, grievances, disciplinary actions, severances and arbitrations within the organization. Oversees disputes resolution and arbitration processes to the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Baccalaureate degree in a Business or related discipline. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Must have at least five years related of HR/LR Advisor experience in a heavily unionized environment, preferably healthcare. Must have at least two years directly related experience working at a Senior HR/LR Advisor level. Minimum of five (5) years to eight (8) years at the Advisor level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Canadian Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation and membership with Human Resource Institute of Alberta preferred. The ability to work from home for an indefinite period subsequent to commencing the position (minimum of 2 months).
