Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Program Officer for Surgery, the Covenant Health Lead, Surgery Program Performance and Optimization plays a pivotal role in shaping surgical service delivery across the province. This position evaluates system needs, anticipates emerging challenges, and identifies solutions to complex issues while applying evidence-informed methodologies to optimize performance. Acting as a key influencer, the Lead drives alignment and fosters collaboration among partners and care teams to ensure cohesive, high-quality surgical care, guided by Covenant Health’s mission, vision, and values.

Description:

The Covenant Health Lead, Surgery Program Performance and Optimization holds a high degree of independence and accountability for advancing surgical performance across the province. This role is responsible for implementing provincial standardization, monitoring system performance, and influencing change at the highest levels to achieve operational excellence. Acting as a trusted representative of Covenant Health at provincial and organizational tables, the Lead applies evidence-informed business and change methodologies to optimize surgical capacity, efficiency, and outcomes. This position coordinates and facilitates initiatives with diverse partners across sites and regions, providing leadership in project management, change management, and performance optimization. The Lead also oversees the development and execution of the program’s strategic and business plans, and progress reporting in alignment with the direction set by the Senior Program Officer and guided by Covenant Health’s mission, vision, and values. This role involves travel between the Covenant surgical sites on an as-needed basis. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in social sciences, health profession, management and/or business is required. A minimum of 5 years' experience in leadership in a complex health care setting or an organization of significant size (e.g. process improvement, project management and/or operational leadership).


Additional Required Qualifications:

Specialized expertise in planning methodologies, including quality improvement, project management and change management across teams and sites. Coordination experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation. Significant experience in problem solving, risk mitigation, concerns resolution, conflict resolution and negotiation. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with leading a team, making decisions, coaching and teaching, and inspiring and building confidence in others in achieving results. Demonstrates ability to engage and foster relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in health, business, leadership, policy or social sciences. Extensive knowledge of surgical services. Certificated/education in health systems leadership, quality improvement, change management, project management. Extensive knowledge of surgical services. Experience in implementing process improvement initiatives.
