Your Opportunity:

The Clinical Liaison functions as the primary liaison between the Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD), Operative Services, Endoscopy, Ambulatory Clinics and Materials Management. The Clinical Liaison facilitates meaningful and effective communication between these groups and will support teams at both the Misericordia and Grey Nuns Hospital.

Description:

The Liaison delivers education and training related to MDRD and relevant reusable medical devices at both the Misericordia and Grey Nuns Hospital. This education and training is in the interest of improving staff knowledge related to medical device reprocessing as well as end user preparation and handling. The position is accountable for the flow of medical devices between the MDRD and the end users. It includes reviewing pick lists, case carts, management of instrument inventory, and coordination of replacement/repairs. The Clinical Liaison coordinates medical device trials on behalf of the MDR with the relevant end users. The Liaison is responsible for the review and oversite of new, loaned, or shared medical devices, their accuracy, completeness, and verification testing. Additionally, the Clinical Liaison participates in quality improvement processes including the collection and review of quality improvement feedback from the end users, as well as relevant changes and education for MDR staff. As a member of the MDRD leadership team this position assists in the planning, development and implementation of program changes and may take over supervisory duties when the manager is unavailable. This position is nonunionized.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Must be a member in good standing with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have at least five years recent experience in an active OR setting and be familiar with the MDRD environment. Some experience mentoring and training departmental staff is preferred. Familiarity with educational platforms, e.g. CLiC, PowerPoint is also preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of various surgical instruments and equipment. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate responsibilities to staff as appropriate. Physical dexterity, visual acuity, mechanical aptitude Ability to work in a computerized environment. Familiar with the Grey Nuns hospital. Certification in recognized MDR Technical Training Course an asset.
