Your Opportunity:
Licensed Practical Nurse on a 24 bed surgery inpatient unit. Nursing staff on 6 East provide safe and compassionate care for patients primarily under the orthopedic service as well as other surgical services and medicine off-service patients. Opportunity to work in a team based environment performing a wide variety of nursing assessments, interventions and evaluations. Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:At least one year of related Surgery - Orthopedic experience required, within the last two years. Recent successful completion of surgery preceptorship may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Excellent communication skills. Strong team work and interpersonal skills. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter training and experience. Negative pressure wound therapy education as asset.
