Your Opportunity:
The Seniors Day Program (SDP), encompassing the Geriatric Community Rehabilitation, Bridges and Adult Day Programs, is the premier outpatient seniors program in Southern Alberta. The SDP program serves our seniors in the community by providing maintenance and rehabilitative care through social, cognitive and physical engaging activities in the hope of maintaining and/or improving independence. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a member of the multi-disciplinary team that specifically works with our dementia clients, but also provides nursing support to the rest of the program. Duties include, but are not limited to assessment, care planning, family/client engagement, treatments, direct care, education, and medication administration. This position may provide clerical and referral management duties from time to time. The LPN requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills. It is expected that the individual will be able to effectively work with other disciplines, departments, clients/families, the public, and stakeholder groups. Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to perform physically demanding duties including prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, pulling, repositioning clients, assuming awkward positions, and transporting equipment. Demonstrated ability to work in close supportive contact with clients in a continuing care environment. Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or a comparable training program within the past 2 years. Completion of Supportive Pathways or equivalent dementia care training within the past 2 years. Experience collaborating with external partners and contracted service providers. Knowledge of regional resources and systems related to seniors’ dementia care. Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning. Strong understanding of recreational and therapeutic activities appropriate for seniors living with dementia. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with the geriatric population, preferably within dementia care settings. Demonstrated ability to effectively and diplomatically address patient and family concerns while maintaining a compassionate, person-centered approach.
