Your Opportunity:

This will be a temporary full time position for 6 months. Reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FM&E) the Maintenance Worker II conducts a variety of minor and intermediate maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance tasks that are specific to all individual trades and technical disciplines. The majority of the Maintenance Worker II’s tasks would be more of the intermediate type. Performs a variety of other tasks related to general cleaning, furniture or equipment moving and grounds keeping duties. Assists all Trades, Power Engineers, Contractors and other Facilities Maintenance and Engineering staff as required. Please note: Classification under Review.

Description:

As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and intermediate mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Must have a 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate or equivalent experience 1 to 2 years related experience working in a computerized maintenance environment which includes operating and maintaining a variety of grounds keeping and building maintenance equipment and tools. Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to withstand and work under inclement weather conditions. Must be flexible and able to return for emergency calls as required. Heavy lifting and/or bending required. Must be able to work around sick and vulnerable people.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous grounds Equpment experience is preferred. Experience in a hospital environment is preferred.
