Reporting to the Corporate Director, Quality, Patient Safety &Experience, the Manager, Medication Management is responsible for administrative, operational and strategic leadership to the Medication Management Safety Team within Covenant Health. Working collaboratively with Medical Staff, Quality and Patient Safety, Professional Practice, Clinical Learning, Pharmacy and Nursing teams, leaders and operations, the Manager will direct, support and facilitate assessment of medication use systems; identify opportunities to improve medication safety; design solutions to system issues, collaborate to support Accreditation and coordinate the creation and updating of medication and vaccine related policies and policy support documents. The Medication Management Safety Team engages with leadership, operations, staff and medical staff to improve care and services. The Manager will provide leadership, participate and provide resources for projects as determined by Covenant Health strategic priorities, the Quality Framework and Strategy and other key organizational areas of focus related to medication safety. This include developing and implementing programs to foster and build local capacity to enhance patient and resident safety and provide high quality, safe and reliable care to those we serve. This position works with a high degree of independence and includes interaction, coaching and facilitation across the leadership structure, including Senior Leadership. While based in Edmonton, travel to other Covenant Health sites is required.
Description:
This position is non-unionized. Travel is required, and may include the use of a personal vehicle. A standard driver s abstract may also be required for use of corporate lease vehicles.

Undergraduate degree in a related health care discipline required. Applicable clinical designation with current practice permit Minimum five years progressive management experience in a related health care discipline. Demonstrated experience in leading teams, project and change management planning and implementation. Proven results-oriented management style with experience in management, program leadership, group facilitation, and strategic planning and implementation. Experience in medication management processes, quality improvement and patient safety.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in a related health care field is an asset. Evidence of ongoing educational preparation in planning, policy development, and project management preferred. Demonstrated abilities at influencing and persuading, and utilizing effective negotiation skills. Demonstrates flexibility and openness to new ideas and methods. Is innovative and creative. Demonstrates clinical knowledge of medication management.
