Description:

Reporting to the Senior Operating Officer, MCH, the Manager, CSO is responsible for day-to-day operations and supervision of staff schedulers; planning and organizing workload; and developing and implementing business and operations plans including monitoring operation budgets and managing project supporting workforce scheduling transformation, change management initiatives, and operational enhancements to improve staffing efficiencies across multiple hospital units. The Manager, CSO liaises with Senior Directors of Operations, Program Managers, Unit Managers, and the Workforce Application and Systems Support team. This position is responsible for the consistent application of the Workforce ESP business rules and the application of Collective Agreements. The Manager plans, coordinates and evaluates the services of the CSO. This leadership position requires strategic thinking, critical problem-solving, and the ability to navigate organizational change. The key responsibilities include: Leading and managing workforce transformation efforts by modernizing staffing and scheduling processes. Driving change management initiatives to improve scheduling efficiencies and adapt to evolving healthcare demands. Developing and implementing strategic workforce solutions that support operational excellence and align with best practices. Coaching, mentoring, and engaging CSO staff to foster a culture of adaptability, teamwork, and service excellence. Optimizing business processes to improve efficiency, quality, and patient safety. Ensuring compliance with workforce scheduling policies, collective agreements, and hospital guidelines. Leveraging data analytics to inform decision-making and drive continuous quality improvement. Utilizing technology and automation to streamline scheduling operations and enhance workforce flexibility. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in a health-related field or business administration. Minimum of 5 years of experience in staff scheduling and workforce management in a 24-hour service environment. Minimum of 3 years of management/supervisory experience, preferably in healthcare. Strong knowledge and experience interpreting collective agreements and scheduling systems. Previous experience with ESP scheduling software or an equivalent system. Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving, leadership, and conflict resolution abilities. Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
