Description:
The Medical Radiation Technologist II (MRT) performs all routine radiographic/fluoroscopic, computed tomography and interventional procedures, and may work in a specialized area and/or coordinate daily work activities of the MRT team. The MRT II also produces radiographs of high diagnostic quality in an efficient and safe manner while attending to the diagnostic and care needs of patients undergoing diagnostic/therapeutic procedures. The MRT II is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized Medical Radiation Technologist program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) required. BLS (Level C - Health Care Provider) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Current Registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACDMTT) required. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Radiological Technologist I, part of which must be in a medium to large urban hospital (200-500 beds) preferred. Extensive experience of working with unstable patients. Involved in x-ray emitting procedures requiring the donning of leaded apparel weighing up to 9.5kg for up to 7.75 hours while assisting within the perimeter of a radiation field. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills. Proven ability to work under pressure within a team in emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous vascular experience preferred and an asset, but not essential. Training will be provided. Five (5) years’ experience as a Radiological Technologist I in a medium to large hospital (200-500 beds) preferred. Willing to learn, and able to effectively communicate any limitations in knowledge.
