Your Opportunity:
Covering for a maternity leave, the Quality Assurance (QA) Technologist III is a member of a two-person team responsible for coordinating equipment performance testing, safety inspections and preventative maintenance activities for all Diagnostic Imaging (DI) areas of the Misericordia and Grey Nuns Community Hospitals. The QA Technologist ensures image capture and image viewing devices are configured according to protocol and are functioning optimally to produce consistent, high-quality images while minimizing radiation dose to patients and staff. The Quality Assurance Team provides radiation dose monitoring to all applicable DI areas and is responsible for training and orientation of staff in regard to radiation safety and protection to ensure departmental compliance with Canadian radiation protection legislation and Safety Codes. The team also acts as a liaison with other departments and programs, answering questions and providing training related to radiation safety and protection best practices. In collaboration with technologist staff and students, this team also develops and performs Quality Audits regularly throughout the year and implements interventions and/or education in close partnership with the Diagnostic Imaging Educator Team. Description:
The Quality Control (QC) Technologist III oversees equipment testing, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance across Diagnostic Imaging (DI) at Misericordia and Grey Nuns Community Hospitals. Guided by a medical physicist and the ARPIA Quality Management Plan, they manage a QC program ensuring imaging equipment is properly configured and produces consistent, high-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure. The team monitors radiation dose, provides staff training on safety and compliance, and serves as a resource for other departments. They support risk management, safety, and quality improvement initiatives, and collaborate with technologists, students, and educators to conduct audits, deliver education, and implement improvements. Quality Audits regularly and implements interventions and/or education in close partnership with the Diagnostic Imaging Educator Team. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Graduate of a recognized Medical Radiation Technologist program or recognized equivalent. Active registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Five (5) years, minimum experience in a medium or large Radiology/Imaging Department which may include working with Imaging Quality Assurance and electronic test tools. Licensed by the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Five years post graduate experience in an urban hospital setting required. Practical experience of working in more than one DI radiation-based modality. Proven critical thinking skills, and ability to troubleshoot Di equipment errors. Proven ability to multi-task successfully. Proven ability to meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous hands-on QC experience and awareness. Proven ability to collaborate and work as a part of a larger team.
