Your Opportunity:

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is a key clinical role providing care at the Level 2 NICU Covenant Health sites. Working predominantly out of the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, the NNP works alongside Neonatologists, NNPs, and the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality clinical care to babies born at 30 weeks gestation or later. The NICUs at the GNCH and Misericordia Hospital are under the same program and work closely together. As such this position may be required to work a the MCH as well. This position will work predominantly out of the Grey Nuns Community Hospital. The Grey Nuns NICU is a busy 26 bed unit supporting both the site Women's Health program which is a large, high volume, obstetrical program, and transfers in from in and out of zone.

Description:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations or Program Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is employed in a variety of settings across the continuum of care including acute care and continuing care. The NP uses an evidence-informed holistic approach that emphasizes the nursing professions' values, expertise and education. The majority of time is spent in clinical practice where the NP role includes, but is not limited to, diagnosing and managing common and complex health conditions, promoting health and preventing illness/injury, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals, medical devises and other therapies and performing procedures, interventions and/or treatments. The NP performs restricted activities within their scope of practice as defined by Schedule 24 of the Health Professions Act, the Registered Nurses Profession Regulations, and the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). In some clinical settings, the NP is considered the most responsible provider. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUNP Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program at a Master of Nursing level. Must possess relevant and recent clinical expertise within stream of practice. Must be eligible for licensure with CRNA as a Nurse Practitioner. Must be appropriately licensed with the clinical practice stream relevant to area of clinical employment.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Masters of Neonatal Nurse Practitioner required. Must be able to lift, move, transfer, weights of up to 50 lbs. NRP BLS Strong advanced practice clinical intervention skills. Must be able to work at the GNCH and the MCH sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

POCUS training preferred.
