Your Opportunity:

Our Rehabilitation Medicine Department provides care and consultation to inpatients in general medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, ICU, CCU, and ER. We also provide care in outpatients: hand therapy, splints, orthotics, general therapeutic interventions, wound clinic, ALS clinic and Healing Connections (post operative breast cancer education, support and intervention program). The Occupational Therapist I (OT) is responsible for the assessment and initiation of therapy as required, to alter care based on patient need, therapeutic objectives and established standards. The ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams concerning patient treatment and progress, along with appropriate discharge planning, is essential to this role. Facilitates discharge from acute care and clinical settings with appropriate follow up; and provides education to patient, family and care givers in conjunction with other disciplines as required. The OT I is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.


The Occupational Therapist I (OT) services are primarily clinical in nature and require expertise in the functional assessment and treatment, client centred case management and discharge planning. Areas of treatment include but are not limited to: orthopedics, acute, stroke, post-op hands, lower extremity clinic, splinting, mental health, cognitive assessments. The position also involves consultations and collaboration with hospital staff and community agencies, and working closely with an interdisciplinary team including supervision of therapist assistant staff in the delivery of hospital based rehabilitation.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills required. Excellent assessment and organizational skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of related experience preferred.
