Your Opportunity:

The Occupational Therapist I (OT I) is responsible for providing occupational therapy services as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Practice areas may include general or internal medicine, surgery, ICU/CCU, emergency, geriatric rehabilitation, and acute stroke care. The OT I may also provide outpatient services such as support of the plastics clinic, provision of footwear, lower extremity compression, and cognitive testing. The plastics clinic is at the Covenant Health Wellness Center. You are responsible for coordinating and prioritizing your daily caseload as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide client-centered assessments, interventions, and discharge planning. You will be involved in the instruction and supervision of therapy assistants and students. The OT I will be responsible for the delivery of services in accordance with established standards and in alignment with Covenant Health’s mission, vision and values. Description: The Occupational Therapist I (OT) services are primarily clinical in nature and require expertise in the functional assessment and treatment, client centred case management and discharge planning. Areas of treatment include but are not limited to: orthopedics, acute, stroke, post-op hands, lower extremity clinic, splinting, mental health, cognitive assessments. The position also involves consultations and collaboration with hospital staff and community agencies, and working closely with an interdisciplinary team including supervision of therapist assistant staff in the delivery of hospital based rehabilitation. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Member in good standing of the general register of the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists. Acute care experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with relevant clinical applications (Alberta Netcare Portal, Connect Care).
