Your Opportunity:

Located in Lethbridge, Alberta, the Geriatric Community Rehabilitation (GCR) and Bridges Day Programs are the premier outpatient seniors programs in Southern Alberta. The GCR program serves seniors who require outpatient therapy services. This program focuses primarily on rehabilitation after an event or injury. The Occupational Therapist (OT) is a member of a larger inter-disciplinary team that includes a RN/LPN, HCAs, PT, Recreation Therapists, Therapy Assistants, Registered Dietitians, Pharmacists, Unit Clerks and a Geriatrician. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for facilitating an Occupational Therapy program to promote and maximize the client's physical and/or cognitive performance and functional independence. Primarily involved in the direct clinical assessment, treatment provision and management of clients in the GCR and Bridges Programs. Involvement in the education of clients, family members and other interdisciplinary team members with regard to a therapy treatment plan and management of the client's health condition. Responsible for the coordination of client rehabilitation and maintenance programs and the supervision of therapy assistants. The position involves consultation and collaboration with community agencies, and working closely with the interdisciplinary team, including supervising therapy assistants. As an educator, the OT will seize opportunities for teaching moments with clients and their families as well as participate in the treatment planning processes. Description: The Occupational Therapist II (OT) is responsible for providing leadership and functional supervision through the coordination of the day to day operations to their assigned team. The OT II facilitates the development of professional skills in their team, participates in program development and operational planning, and acts as a communication liaison between team and management, and provides direct patient centered care, working as part of an Interprofessional leadership team. The OT II is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

As required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with Connect Care an asset, but not required. Knowledge of community resources related to rehabilitation and seniors population.
